Welcome Drifters
This web site is a continuation of an extended family that came together in Santa Cruz, California in the early 1980's. At the center of this family was a band called the Continental Drifters. This band is no longer together, however there is a band based in New Orleans of the same name which is still touring. Most of us are now spread out across the country and this web site is designed to keep us all in touch. Many bands have started since the early seed band, the Continental Drifters, but still to this day the core of the group is called The Drifters. That would be Stan Russell, Mike Pushnik,Jim Lewin, Bill Layman (who is now playing with the David Nelson Band) Doug Marcus, Trampus, Jim Bannister, Jack Baldwin, The Blood Sisters, Lora Norvig, Tina Bannister, Becky Luening, The Stanimals, The Gypsy Cowboys, Squat, The Butchers, SKR International , Jeff Holmquest, Andy Davids,
The inspiration for this page started as a memorial for Jeff Huch, aka Paco. Every year we get together for a memorial jam session. Last year eight original bands played from 2:00 PM until 2:00 AM. It was a great day with uncountable great performances. It's our own Horde, Lilith Faire, Lollapalooza all thrown together. Often it takes death to bring us all together. Not that it has in this family, however, now, the core of the celebration for the last couple of years has been called PacoFest because of our fallen brother, Paco Huch. The next get together is scheduled for the first weekend in October 1998. If anyone would like to join us for this very festive occasion, please feel free to join us in the fun. This site is designed and maintained by Stan Russell, SKR International
